Reasons Why

I lived in a very populated suburb for most of my life. Everybody knew everyone and if something happened in the community it only took minuets before the information came spewing out. One reason why my college is a good fit for me is simply it is set up the same way, small community, everyone knows everyone.

My college has diversity to it; I don’t feel so out of place being the only one from out of state. There are others I can get together with and discuss what I miss about home and what I do not miss. Perhaps being surrounded by those who are just as home sick as I am makes me feel more comfortable.

My current major is possibly always mind-blowing every time I go to class. In high school I only could imagine and daydream about the opportunities I would just sometimes wish for. Nonetheless my college has provided me with the tools and skills to be involved in these past high school dreams.

Another reason why my college is a good fit for me is. My college has a room full of apples, silver and white 14k resolution apple computers that is. It is weird only because I am very complacent with using windows computers. Although these computers are unique in their structure and program language it is taking some adjustment but I enjoy learning new dos and don’ts’s of the apple computer.

There is always an occasion for you to be involved and do something productive. My college has provided many outlets for you to be engaged. The options are limitless; it is amazing you would really need to be beside yourself to not want to lend a helping hand. My college has a day of service where the administration students and staff get involved with the community. Although I am new here I am looking forward to the day of service more and more.

This college suits me well, it has all I want and could possibly need. If they had their own track and football field then it would be absolutely perfect for me but that’s beside the point. It is a good fit for me socially and academically and that is all that matters.

My mission is to not to put my parents hard-earned money to waste. To not be another static that attended a fancy college or university only to graduate and stay idle for month’s possibly even years at a time with out a job.

First and foremost I would like to see how far I could push my body so I can thrive athletically and represent my country for the Olympic games. This would be more than an accomplishment, more so like an honor to show my parents that opportunities are endless.

 I was in an environment where negativity was so abundant that you would be criticized for just having an idea for success. You would be ridiculed and scrutinized everyday, chatter amongst students would sound something like: “ You wont make it, you don’t have the ambition drive nor dedication.” Looking back now it is almost funny to see where I have came from.

Aside from that I was always told education is important and education will carry you further than sports. This is so true, however I find a strong attraction in dealing with computers. Not your average kind of student who sits around utters, “ Look at this cool trick I can do.” 

I am talking about physically piecing together a windows computer, powering it on and optimizing it for efficient performance. Maximizing the RAM, pushing the processor to its limits and doing it all over again.   I have always thought to myself as a child, how do things work? When I gained some insight on to whatsoever I wanted to be knowledgeable about it stuck with me forever.

My dream would be to find balance between sports and computers. These two are essential and needed for me to prosper and thrive. I would not be able to sit in a cubical for nine hours nor could I deal with a job that is physically demanding all the time. A hybrid of physical labor and intelligence.
